Gaza’s civil defence authority reported on Tuesday that at least 10 individuals, including a young child, lost their lives in separate Israeli airstrikes targeting northern areas of the Palestinian territory.
Despite a ceasefire agreement in the ongoing Gaza conflict that took effect on October 10, hostilities have persisted. Both Israel and Hamas have continued to exchange accusations over alleged violations of the truce, raising concerns about its stability.
According to Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for the civil defence agency operating under Hamas governance, four people were killed in an airstrike that hit a police vehicle in Gaza City. The incident also left several others injured. Among the victims was a three-year-old child identified as Yahya al-Mallahi.
Medical officials at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City confirmed receiving the bodies of those killed in the strike. When contacted, the Israeli military stated that it was reviewing the details of the incident.
In a separate statement, Gaza’s interior ministry said Israeli warplanes had deliberately targeted a police vehicle in the city center, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.
Earlier the same day, another fatality was reported in the northern town of Beit Lahia, where a person was killed by Israeli fire. The Israeli military later announced that its forces had identified and neutralized what it described as an “armed terrorist” near the so-called Yellow Line, an area from which troops had previously withdrawn. It remains unclear whether both reports refer to the same event.
On Wednesday, the military added that it had conducted a strike on a truck carrying what it described as Hamas operatives the previous day.
Footage captured by AFP showed civilians gathering around a deceased individual before transporting the body on a stretcher through heavily damaged streets for burial.
Later on Tuesday evening, Gaza’s civil defence agency reported additional casualties following another strike near a junction in the Al-Shati refugee camp, located in Gaza City. Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed that five bodies were received from that bombing.
As of the latest updates, the Israeli military has not issued a response regarding this particular incident.
Since the ceasefire came into force, Gaza’s health ministry reports that at least 757 people have been killed. These figures are widely regarded as credible by international bodies, including the United Nations. In contrast, the Israeli military has reported the deaths of five of its soldiers within the same timeframe.
Due to ongoing restrictions on media access and movement within Gaza, independent verification of casualty figures and full coverage of events by international organizations such as AFP remains limited.
