EFCC Apprehends 120 Suspected Cybercrime Offenders in Lagos Raids

In a major crackdown, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody 120 suspected cybercrime perpetrators during strategic operations conducted across various parts of Lagos State.

The arrest was officially confirmed by Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson of the commission, in a statement issued on Monday, May 19, 2025. The EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 executed the coordinated raids, which were based on credible intelligence and thorough surveillance activities that spanned several weeks.

Among those apprehended are 95 men and 25 women, all suspected of being involved in different types of internet fraud and digital financial scams.

During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered several valuable items suspected to have been acquired through illicit means. The confiscated assets include:

  • 26 luxury cars
  • Numerous high-end jewelry pieces
  • Smartphones and laptops
  • Official documents and digital records potentially linked to fraudulent schemes

EFCC spokesperson Oyewale emphasized that all suspects are currently undergoing intensive investigations. Once the inquiry is finalized, the individuals will be formally charged and presented before the appropriate court of law
