In Christ Jesus, we’ve been called to a life of perfection, victory and glory. Yet, there’re those who knowingly or unknowingly resist this truth by holding on to human limitations. They often say, “We are all human,” or “Nobody is perfect.” They use these statements to justify living below the divine life we’ve been called to in Christ. When people say “We’re all humans,” they forget the transformation that took place when we were born again. The Bible declares, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). As new creatures in Christ, we’re not merely human—we’re born of God, partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). The other common phrase “Nobody is perfect” also contradicts the Scriptures. The Lord Jesus unequivocally stated in our opening verse, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Perfection means to be full-grown in maturity, blameless, unspotted, wanting nothing; a completeness. Then you have another common generalization which is “We all make mistakes,” as though living beyond mistakes is inevitable. But the Word of God teaches us differently. The Bible says, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God” (1 John 3:9). The seed of God—the life and nature of God—is in you, empowering you to live above error and walk in righteousness. It’s about your knowledge and understanding of Christ and His Gospel. It’ll put you above every limitation to live the glorious life He has given you. Many are hindered by negative beliefs and traditions handed down by those who don’t know the truth. But you must look to the Word and refuse to live by these limiting mind-sets. The life in Christ is one of excellence, righteousness, victory, and dominion over sin, Satan and circumstances. The life of Christ in you is a perfect life, and it’s your responsibility to walk in its reality. Refuse to accept mediocrity or failure. Look to the Word, believe it, and live by it. Hallelujah! The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has initiated legal proceedings against 37-year-old Sulaiman Danwawu, a suspected high-profile drug trafficker, by filing an eight-count indictment at the Federal High Court in Kano State. Danwawu’s arrest took place on May 10, 2025, in a coordinated operation executed by the Kano State Police Command. Following his apprehension, he was transferred to the NDLEA for in-depth investigation and eventual prosecution. Legal documents from the court indicate that Danwawu is being prosecuted for the unlawful possession of several restricted pharmaceutical and recreational substances. These include Tramadol, Rohypnol, Cannabis Sativa, Pregabalin, and Codeine-based cough syrup—all of which are recognized as narcotic drugs under Nigeria’s current legislation. The alleged violations occurred at Cairo Street in the Tudun Yola area of Gwale Local Government Area (LGA) within Kano State on multiple dates during May 2025. The NDLEA asserts that Danwawu held these controlled substances without any legal permit or medical justification, which constitutes a breach of Section 19 of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. Should Danwawu be found guilty, he will face significant punitive measures, as Nigeria continues to intensify efforts to combat the spread and impact of narcotics trafficking and abuse, especially in the northern region.

He highlighted the detrimental impact of political interference and the presence of informants within the military and political spheres, which compromise counterinsurgency efforts. “The President should heed the counsel of military professionals,” Zulum stated, underscoring the importance of depoliticizing security matters. He further revealed that some politicians and military personnel are allegedly collaborating with insurgents, exacerbating the security challenges. Call for Enhanced Military Intelligence and Equipment Governor Zulum pointed out the technological advancements of insurgents, including the use of drones, which surpass the current capabilities of the Nigerian military. He criticized the existing “contractocracy” and bureaucratic delays in security procurement, suggesting that with focused efforts and proper equipment, the insurgency could be quelled within six months. Despite these challenges, Zulum acknowledged the positive outcomes of non-kinetic strategies, such as deradicalization and reintegration programs, noting that over 99% of surrendered insurgents have successfully reintegrated into society. Senate Recommends Establishment of Military Base in Adamawa In response to the increasing attacks in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe States, the Senate has passed a resolution advocating for the creation of a military base in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. This motion, sponsored by Senator Aminu Abbas and supported by all North-East senators, aims to bolster the presence of security forces and deter further insurgent activities. The Senate also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials to affected communities to alleviate the humanitarian crisis resulting from these attacks. Mixed Reactions from Other Northern States Reactions to Governor Zulum’s assertions have varied among northern state governments. While Zamfara State acknowledged the possibility of insurgents using advanced technology in Borno, it noted that such tactics have not been observed within its jurisdiction. Kebbi State called for verification of Zulum’s claims and emphasized the need to identify and address potential informants within the military and political class. Other states, including Sokoto, Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, and Kogi, have expressed either neutrality or disagreement with Zulum’s statements, highlighting the importance of collaboration with security agencies and the adoption of technological measures to combat insurgency effectively.

A total of over 1,300 civil servants who were retrenched in Zamfara State have reportedly failed to present themselves before the state’s verification committee, which was recently set up by Governor Dauda Lawal. According to LMSINT MEDIA, the committee recorded appearances from fewer than 800 public servants during the verification process. Governor Lawal initiated the formation of the committee following pressure from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), who raised concerns over alleged wrongful terminations linked to the implementation of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage policy. During a media briefing, the State Head of Service, Yakubu Sani Haidara, acknowledged the low turnout and revealed that the Governor had extended the deadline by ten days, ending on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Despite the extension, the number of attendees remained unsatisfactory. Haidara emphasized that the civil service operates under strict guidelines, and any affected employees who failed to attend the reverification exercise would be labeled as ghost workers. He also disclosed that 209 civil servants from the State Ministry of Education deserted their workstations without obtaining any official clearance. “When an employee deserts their workplace for several weeks or months without authorization, it implies that they have effectively dismissed themselves,” Haidara said. However, after appeals from key stakeholders, Governor Lawal gave the directive for the 209 absentees to submit formal apology letters for documentation, which led to their reengagement. Despite being reinstated, these individuals will not receive salaries or allowances for the months during which they were absent. Additionally, 51 staff members from the State Ministry of Finance were reported to have abandoned their duties. Out of these, 39 have been reinstated, while 11 are still in the process of pleading for reconsideration. Haidara assured that the current administration has no intention of laying off workers unjustly. Instead, the primary objective is to restructure and enhance the efficiency of the Zamfara State civil service. He concluded by affirming that every government worker must be able to account for their monthly earnings through active service.

American R&B star Chris Brown has been granted bail by a UK court after facing serious assault charges. Law enforcement detained the artist in the early morning of May 13, shortly after he arrived in Manchester via a private jet. Authorities took him into custody at a luxury five-star hotel in the city’s northwest region. Judge Tony Baumgartner, who presided over the case, emphasized that Brown must remain at a specific residence registered with the court. If not actively touring, the singer must also surrender his passport. Additionally, he has been banned from contacting the alleged victim, identified as Abraham Diah, and is prohibited from visiting the nightclub where the alleged incident took place. This disturbing experience, according to him, was both shocking and saddening. He used the opportunity to advocate for greater awareness and intervention against drug misuse, calling for more voices to rise in support of the campaign. The artist also referenced a piece of advice he received from Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde (K1 De Ultimate) six years ago. According to Small Doctor, Ayinde had encouraged him to establish a drug rehabilitation centre, foreseeing that the demand for such facilities would become increasingly vital. He described the advice as prophetic, stating that Ayinde “saw the future.” Taking to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Small Doctor wrote: “There’s one guy that consistently speaks out against drug use on social media—I think his name is David-something, though I can’t recall fully. We need his voice now more than ever. I walked through a few neighbourhoods this past Sunday and what I saw broke my heart. A 27-year-old man identified as Musa Lamidi has been remanded in a correctional center following accusations of murdering his father, Rufai Lamidi, in Eruwa, Oyo State. The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan issued the remand order on Wednesday. The accused, who reportedly has no fixed residential address, is facing a murder charge. Presiding Magistrate Olaolu Olanipekun declined to entertain Lamidi’s plea, citing the court’s lack of jurisdiction over the matter. He instructed that the police transfer the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further legal review and advice. The matter was subsequently adjourned until July 10 for mention. Earlier, the Prosecuting Officer, ASP Musbau Lawal, informed the court that the incident occurred at around 11 p.m. on May 11 in Eruwa. He alleged that Lamidi struck his father on the forehead with a stick, an action that allegedly led to the elder Lamidi’s death. The prosecutor noted that the crime violates Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law of Oyo State (2000), which pertains to homicide.
