Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has commended the impressive performances of two debutants, Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu, following their first appearance for the Nigeria national football team.

Goals from Akor Adams and Moses Simon secured the victory for the side led by Eric Chelle.
Speaking during his appearance on the Alexander Yaa Digg Podcast, Iwobi reflected positively on the outcome of the match and the team’s overall display. He acknowledged the strength of the opposition while emphasizing Nigeria’s resilience and effectiveness in front of goal.
According to him, the team showed quality and determination by converting their chances and maintaining composure throughout the game. He also reserved special praise for the two centre-backs who featured after the break, highlighting their confidence and ability to adapt quickly to the international stage.
Iwobi noted that both defenders delivered solid performances on their debuts, contributing to the team’s stability at the back. He described their showing as encouraging and pointed out that their efforts played a role in preserving the team’s advantage.
The midfielder further emphasized that securing the win was important for building momentum, adding that the result provides a valuable confidence boost for the squad as they prepare for future fixtures.
Overall, the match not only showcased Nigeria’s attacking strength but also highlighted the emergence of new defensive talents capable of stepping up when called upon.
