In a significant diplomatic development, United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year. This invitation was extended during their bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, where global leaders gathered to discuss critical sustainability issues such as climate change, energy, and water crises.
President Tinubu, who presented Nigeria’s position on sustainability and climate change at the event, took the opportunity to congratulate Sheikh Mohamed for successfully hosting the prestigious summit.
Both leaders used the occasion to underline the importance of enhancing economic ties between the two nations and fostering investments in Nigeria’s economy. Sheikh Mohamed expressed his gratitude for President Tinubu’s participation and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to further strengthening relations with Nigeria.
During their meeting, President Tinubu shared his administration’s positive economic reforms, which have helped stabilize and drive growth in Nigeria. He urged the UAE to partner with Nigeria in developing key economic sectors, noting the increased confidence of international investors who have pledged billions of dollars in investments.
The discussions, held at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi, were attended by top officials from both nations, including Saeed Al Shamsi, the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria.
As President Tinubu expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s warm reception, both leaders looked forward to further deepening their nations’ partnership. Sheikh Mohamed’s forthcoming visit to Nigeria is expected to solidify the growing relationship between the two countries and open new opportunities for collaboration in economic development and sustainability.
