Portuguese top-flight side Famalicão FC has officially finalized the acquisition of Nigerian forward Umar Abubakar, according to a report by LMSINT MEDIA.
Abubakar joins the Primeira Liga outfit from Footwork FC, a prominent Nigerian football academy recognized for grooming young talents for European clubs.
The dynamic striker has committed to a substantial five-year contract with Hugo Oliviera’s team, marking a significant step in his professional career.
At just 19 years old, Umar Abubakar showcased exceptional goal-scoring prowess during his loan spell with Jong Gent, a Belgian second division team. Over the previous season, he netted an impressive 21 goals in 27 appearances, a remarkable feat that significantly contributed to the club’s elevation to the Belgian Challenger Pro League.
Abubakar attracted interest from several European clubs following his standout season. However, after careful consideration, he opted to advance his career by signing with Famalicão FC.
