President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s growth by pledging to enhance the infrastructure achievements of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari. Tinubu delivered this message in a touching tribute on Buhari’s 82nd birthday, acknowledging Buhari’s leadership, dedication, and transformative impact on the nation.
In his statement released on Monday, President Tinubu praised Buhari for his unwavering resilience and his significant contributions to Nigeria’s progress.
“Your steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s advancement and unity inspires many, and your enduring legacy continues to guide our nation’s journey towards prosperity and stability,” Tinubu remarked.
Reflecting on Buhari’s tenure (2015-2023), Tinubu highlighted the former president’s focus on infrastructure development as a cornerstone of national progress. He assured Nigerians that his administration will not only uphold Buhari’s vision but also expand on the existing infrastructure initiatives.
“I will continue to build on the infrastructure legacy you bequeathed to our nation as the leader of our country’s first All Progressives Congress (APC) administration,” Tinubu stated.
Buhari’s perseverance, particularly in contesting and losing three presidential elections before securing victories in 2015 and 2019, was also a point of admiration. Tinubu described Buhari’s political journey as a testament to his resilience, encouraging Nigerians never to give up on their goals.
“Your doggedness and resilience in contesting presidential elections before winning them inspire us never to give up,” Tinubu added.
Tinubu further praised Buhari’s role as a unifying leader whose influence continues to shape Nigeria’s path toward unity and stability.
“As you celebrate this remarkable milestone in Daura, we reflect on your years of dedicated service and leadership, which have significantly shaped the course of our nation,” Tinubu said.
The president concluded his tribute by wishing Buhari good health, happiness, and fulfillment in his retirement.
“On this special day, may you be surrounded by the love of your family and friends and continue to enjoy good health, happiness, and fulfillment in all your endeavors, now and in the future,” Tinubu expressed.
