President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that his administration removed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to enhance infrastructure growth and fast-track development in Abuja.

This revelation came during a Sallah homage visit by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and members of the Abuja community at the Presidential Villa.

How TSA Affected FCT Development

In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu highlighted that the TSA system was restricting developmental projects in the FCT. He explained that lifting these financial restrictions has paved the way for accelerated infrastructure improvements, better healthcare services, and enhanced security measures in Abuja.

According to the president, Minister Wike represents the diversity of Nigeria and has been instrumental in implementing transformative projects in the capital.

President Tinubu recalled that when Minister Wike requested the FCT’s exclusion from TSA, he presented a clear developmental plan. Upon granting the request, the president noticed significant improvements, including:

Healthcare and education upgrades: The rehabilitation of healthcare centers and provision of school furniture for children.

Tinubu praised Wike for restructuring the FCT public service, allowing civil servants to aspire to leadership positions and contribute meaningfully to governance. He emphasized that the removal of bureaucratic barriers has been instrumental in achieving these milestones.
