In John 2:1-11, the Bible tells a remarkable story of the first recorded miracle of the Lord Jesus which took place at a wedding in Cana of Galilee. As the celebration was in full swing, they ran out of wine, a situation that could have been embarrassing for the hosts. Mary, the mother of Jesus, turned to Him for a solution. Even though the Master said to Mary that His hour had not yet come, Mary gave the servants a profound admonition of faith. She said, “…Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it” (John 2:5). The Lord Jesus then told the servants to fill six large waterpots with water. Without question, they obeyed, filling them to the brim. Then the Master said, “…Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast…” (John 2:8). Again, without hesitation, they followed His instruction. As the governor tasted it, he marvelled at the exquisite taste of the fine wine, not knowing where it had come from. What was once ordinary water had been turned into the finest wine. This shows the importance of acting on God’s Word. Another striking example is seen in Matthew 17 where the Lord Jesus instructed Peter to go to the sea, cast a hook, and take the first fish that came up. He told Peter that in its mouth, he’d find a coin that would be enough to pay the tribute the tax collectors had asked for. Peter didn’t say “Master, that’s impossible.” Rather, without doubting or questioning the logic of such an instruction, he simply acted in faith. And just as the Master had said, there was a coin in the mouth of the first fish Peter caught. Always act your faith in the Word of God. Don’t try to rationalize divine instructions. God’s Word transcends logic, science, and technology. When the Lord speaks, His Word is final; act on it without hesitation. He said the situation has left Orokam residents living in constant fear, with families and community leaders afraid to speak out against the menace due to fear of reprisals. Ade-Igwu Trailer Park: A Hub for Criminal Operations Onjeh revealed that intelligence reports and eyewitness accounts have consistently linked the Ade-Igwu Trailer Park to criminal activities. Read again what the Lord Jesus said in our opening scripture: “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Only the Name of Jesus wields unlimited authority, power that changes hopeless situations and makes all things possible. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has authorized the Ministry of Works to explore funding mechanisms for constructing new structures to replace the deteriorating Carter Bridge and Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, with projected costs of ₦359 billion and ₦3.6 trillion respectively. Minister of Works, David Umahi, reported after the FEC deliberations that the government is evaluating the feasibility of both Public–Private Partnership (PPP) and Engineering, Procurement, Construction plus Financing (EPC+F) frameworks. These options cover either complete reconstruction or full rehabilitation of the bridges—specifically, ₦387 billion for rehabilitation of Carter Bridge and ₦3.8 trillion for Third Mainland Bridge, where rehabilitation proved less practical compared to new builds. Umahi emphasized that structural evaluations found both bridges have severe underwater vulnerabilities—stemming from skin-friction foundations lacking solid rock base—and have suffered damage from rust, sand displacement, and illegal extraction. Findings in earlier studies, including those in 2013 and 2019, substantiate these concerns. Consequently, FEC granted approval for implementing either reconstruction or rehabilitation, leveraging PPP and EPC+F approaches and utilizing a selective procurement process inviting at least seven specialized contractors. Funding discussions are underway with international financiers, including Deutsche Bank. The minister also announced additional bridge-related approvals: restoration of the fire-damaged Iddo Bridge’s three-span section, Jalingo Bridge in Taraba, Keffi Flyover, Mokwa Bridge in Niger, a bridge on the Abuja–Keffi route, road corridor bridges between Lagos and Ibadan damaged by overloading, and Jebba Bridge. On the roads front, funding has been revised for the 152 km Kano–Katsina Road: Section One (74.1 km) escalated to ₦68 billion; Section Two (79.5 km) uplifted to ₦96.115 billion—both covered by ₦120 billion in the 2024–2025 budget. Similarly, the 30.2 km Iyin–Ilawe Road in Ekiti State has begun construction for its first 10 km, while the subsequent two 10.1-km segments are valued at ₦16.77 billion and ₦17.275 billion respectively. Strategically, the government is emphasizing private-sector engagement and alternative financing to handle these massive infrastructural undertakings, since traditional budgetary allocations cannot sustain the scale of these projects with confidence.

Hope Behind Bars Africa (HBBA), a human rights advocacy group, has raised alarm over the recent escape of 16 detainees from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Keffi (New), occurring in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident also left five staff members wounded, two of whom required urgent medical attention. HBBA described this escape as part of a worrying trend of security breaches in correctional establishments nationwide.
