On Sunday, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike caused a major embarrassment to Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, during his state visit to Nigeria. Wike, visibly intoxicated, greeted Modi at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, presenting him with the key to the city. After a brief photo session, Wike, under the influence of alcohol, began slurring his words while attempting to converse with the Prime Minister. As Modi proceeded toward his convoy, Wike continued to follow, stumbling and slurring, which made the Indian leader visibly uncomfortable. Security personnel from both Nigerian and Indian teams quickly intervened and escorted Modi to his vehicle. The incident quickly made its way to Aso Rock, prompting immediate action.
