Atalanta’s head coach, Ivan Juric, has officially confirmed that Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman will not be available for the team’s Serie A fixture against Lecce this Sunday, LMSINT MEDIA reports.
Lookman, who has been involved in a transfer standoff, has yet to feature for Atalanta in the current Serie A campaign. His absence has sparked mixed reactions among fans, especially considering his recent performances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 27-year-old attacker recently represented Nigeria in crucial matches against Rwanda and South Africa, where his fitness and form impressed many observers. With those solid outings, supporters had anticipated his reintegration into Atalanta’s squad ahead of the encounter with Lecce.
However, Coach Juric has made it clear that Lookman will not be part of his matchday selection. Speaking in a press briefing, Juric expressed disappointment over the ongoing circumstances surrounding the winger.
“Ademola will not be ready for tomorrow. It’s truly a complicated and unpleasant situation,” Juric said, as quoted by respected Italian outlet TMW.
This update means Atalanta will have to approach their Serie A clash without one of their most dynamic attacking options, leaving fans to wonder when Lookman will eventually return to club action.
