Police Thwart Kidnapping Attempt, Rescue 10 Passengers in Katsina

In a remarkable show of bravery, the Katsina State Police Command successfully prevented a kidnapping attempt involving 10 passengers at Kwanar Makera, Jibia Local Government Area. This heroic act occurred on December 24, as armed bandits attacked a commercial vehicle along the Katsina-Magama-Jibia road.

Swift Police Intervention
According to ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the command’s spokesperson, the incident unfolded at 8:30 p.m. when heavily armed bandits ambushed a vehicle, firing sporadically in an attempt to abduct the passengers. Responding swiftly to a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia led a team of operatives to the scene.

The officers engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, successfully foiling the kidnapping attempt and rescuing all 10 occupants.

Victims Receive Medical Care
Unfortunately, four of the rescued passengers sustained gunshot injuries during the attack. They were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical attention.

Ongoing Efforts and Commendation
Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue. Commending the team for their courage and professionalism, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, urged the officers to maintain their commitment to ensuring public safety.

He also appealed to the community to support the police by providing valuable information about criminal activities for swift and effective action.
