Tinubu Requests Senate Approval for Removal of Three RECs
Leaders from the Niger Delta, under the banner of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), are set to engage in a crucial discussion with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
PANDEF, originally convened by the late elder statesman Senator Edwin Clark, serves as the voice of traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders from the coastal regions of the Niger Delta. The forum plays a key role in advocating for regional development and addressing pressing issues affecting the oil-rich region.
Following their meeting with President Tinubu, the Niger Delta leaders will proceed to a separate session in the afternoon with the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other National Assembly members representing the South-South geopolitical zone.
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of PANDEF is co-chaired by notable figures, including former Governors of old Rivers State and Akwa Ibom State, HRM Alfred Diete-Spiff and Obong Victor Attah. The national chairman of the organization is Ambassador Godknows Igali, a distinguished former federal permanent secretary and seasoned diplomat.
A senior PANDEF official disclosed to Vanguard that an expanded National Executive Council (NEC) meeting was held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, yesterday. The source confirmed that the forum’s engagement with President Tinubu is expected to address key regional concerns.
