The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has firmly dismissed circulating claims suggesting that one of its military aircraft currently held in Burkina Faso was compelled to land due to alleged espionage activities. According to the Air Force, the reports spreading across social media platforms are entirely inaccurate and misleading.
The Nigerian Air Force further addressed speculation surrounding the personnel onboard the aircraft. Contrary to viral claims, the eleven individuals onboard — consisting of aircrew members and engineering personnel — are not intelligence operatives or espionage specialists. NAF clarified that these individuals are trained aviation professionals whose duties are strictly related to aircraft operation and technical maintenance.
NAF urged members of the public to rely on verified and official communication channels for accurate information, warning that the spread of unverified reports could undermine national security and public trust. The Air Force reiterated its commitment to transparency and professionalism in all its operations, both domestically and internationally.
