Lagos Task Force Dismisses Two Officers Over Theft During Raid

The Lagos State Task Force has taken decisive action by dismissing two officers, Fatai Yusuf and Hammed Garuba, for stealing during a recent operation. This announcement was made on Friday in a statement by the agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Abdulraheem Gbadeyan.

Incident Details

The raid occurred at a hotel in Gowon Estate, a location notorious for harboring drug users and traffickers. During the operation, which led to several arrests, the two officers were caught on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) stealing mobile phones from the scene.

Their misconduct not only violated the agency’s ethical standards but also undermined the integrity of the entire operation.

Disciplinary Actions Taken

Gbadeyan revealed that the officers, who served as paramilitary personnel, underwent a thorough investigation by the task force’s disciplinary committee. Upon confirmation of their guilt, they were dismissed immediately and now face prosecution for theft.

“The agency remains committed to upholding integrity and accountability,” he emphasized.

Leadership’s Position

CSP Adetayo Akerele, Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, strongly condemned the actions of the dismissed officers. He reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for unethical conduct and warned all personnel of severe consequences for similar breaches.

“The Lagos State Task Force operates on principles of discipline, equity, and justice,” Akerele stated. “Any act that undermines public trust or compromises our credibility will be dealt with swiftly and decisively.”

Upholding Public Trust

In addition to addressing this internal misconduct, the task force has also arraigned individuals arrested during the Gowon Estate raid. This reflects its ongoing commitment to law enforcement and public safety, aligning with the Lagos State THEMES Plus agenda.

Key Takeaway

The swift dismissal and prosecution of the offending officers underscore the Lagos State Task Force’s dedication to maintaining ethical standards while ensuring law and order. Such decisive actions reinforce the agency’s credibility and commitment to public trust.
