Popular Nigerian artist, John Ighodaro, better known by his stage name Johnny Drille, has spoken candidly about his experience with fatherhood and how it reshaped his view of family.
LMSINT MEDIA previously reported that Johnny Drille and his wife, Rima Tahini, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Amaris Esohe Ighodaro, on November 17, 2023.
In a recent interview shared by Dose Of Society, the Mavin Records singer revealed that becoming a father has deepened his respect and admiration for his own parents.
Johnny described parenthood as a transformative journey, stating:
“The one rule I live by is family first. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, if my family needs me, I would drop everything. That’s my priority.”
Reflecting on his upbringing, he emphasized the unwavering role his family has played throughout his life:
“Family has always been my foundation. Whenever the world feels too heavy, I turn to my family, and I always find relief. My parents, especially, have stood by me. My biggest ambition is to care for them and give them the chance to explore the world.”
He recalled the difficult times his family endured, sharing:
“We didn’t have much. I remember seasons when there was barely enough food, but my parents always found a way to make ends meet. They made life enjoyable for us, even during hardships. What seemed like fun as a child, I now realize was their way of protecting us from the harsh reality.”
Speaking about the shift that came with fatherhood, he noted:
“Now that I have a daughter, I understand what it truly means to care for someone. I now see the depth of sacrifices my parents made. Raising a child completely changes you, in ways that are often not talked about enough.”
He concluded by expressing heartfelt gratitude:
“I’m thankful for having parents who raised me with love and care, especially in a challenging world. They gave me the tools to face life.”
