Jim Iyke Labels Modern Feminism as Harmful and Deceptive

Veteran Nigerian actor Jim Iyke has voiced his strong disapproval of what he refers to as modern feminism, arguing that it has deviated dangerously from its original mission. In his latest interview with The EchoRoom, the Nollywood star described the contemporary feminist movement as a manipulated ideology that now borders on criminal intent, a far cry from the just cause it once represented.

According to Iyke, early feminist advocacy had commendable goals, such as fighting against gender inequality, male dominance, and societal injustice toward women. However, he believes that the movement has been hijacked by media and commercial interests, leading to a widespread ideology that fosters rivalry between genders rather than equality or collaboration.

“I view the current trend of feminism as a crime, a form of mental assault,” Jim Iyke stated during the interview.

He went further to say that a popular women’s magazine, which he chose not to identify, strategically engineered the new wave of feminism as part of a marketing agenda. Their goal, according to him, was to boost readership and sales by targeting their primary audience – women. To do so, they fabricated an ideology that encouraged women to challenge male authority and societal norms, turning it into a profitable campaign.

“They initiated a very clever sales strategy,” he explained. “The campaign gave women a sense of competition with men. That idea took root, spread fast, and eventually transformed into a radical belief system that many women embraced without questioning its origin or motive.”

The 48-year-old actor didn’t hold back in condemning how this distorted feminist ideology has shifted into a cultural mindset, where some women now view men as unnecessary or even adversarial.

“It became a revolution that spun out of control,” he said. “The notion of ‘we don’t need men’ or ‘we can outperform men in every area’ became popular slogans. Eventually, this became more than an ideology – it became a way of life and a new cultural identity.”

Jim Iyke also drew attention to what he called the hypocrisy and double standards within the modern feminist narrative. Rather than promoting equality, he claims that today’s feminism is contradictory, operating with two different sets of values that undermine natural gender balance.

“That contradiction is exactly why I have a problem with it,” he remarked. “Can’t you see the lie in all of this? There’s a two-faced approach to gender equality that simply doesn’t align with the reality of human roles.”

He concluded by asserting his belief that men and women are not the same, and that their differences are complementary, not competitive. According to Iyke, true harmony lies in recognizing these distinctions and working together rather than pushing one gender above the other.

“The genuine balance of life,” he said, “comes when men and women understand their unique roles and collaborate rather than compete. That’s something many who promote modern feminism have failed to grasp.”
