Iyabo Ojo Files Petition Against Nigerian Police Over VeryDarkMan’s Alleged Interrogation Room Access

Nigerian film star and activist, Iyabo Ojo, has formally petitioned the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), currently headed by Nuhu Ribadu, regarding an alleged case of police misconduct involving the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and controversial online figure, VeryDarkMan.

According to the petition filed by her legal team, The Maverick Forte Legal, and dated July 29, 2025, Ojo alleged a significant breach of professional conduct by officers during her interrogation at the Force Headquarters located in Abuja.

The widely shared legal document reveals that during her questioning session with the NPF-NCC, VeryDarkMan, a civilian currently facing charges in a separate matter where Ojo is a witness, was improperly allowed into the interrogation room. This access, she claims, compromised the integrity and confidentiality of her session.

Improper Access Allegedly Authorized by Top Officer

The petition further points to Commissioner of Police, Ifeanyi Henry Uche, as the official who reportedly authorized VeryDarkMan’s entry into the confidential interrogation space. Ojo claims that the access was a result of an “unprofessional and personal relationship” between the officer and the online influencer.

The actress expressed serious concerns about how sensitive details from her session were leaked online shortly after the event, allegedly by VeryDarkMan himself, further deepening her mistrust in the ongoing process.

Call for Relocation of Investigation to Lagos

In response to these alleged breaches, Iyabo Ojo has vowed not to attend any further sessions at the NPF-NCC headquarters in Abuja. She has also requested that the case be relocated to Lagos for an independent and impartial investigation. The actress emphasized the need for a probe that is free from manipulation, bias, or influence, urging authorities to put an end to what she describes as a “tainted and partial inquiry.”

This latest controversy stems from an earlier police invitation extended to Ojo following her public remarks accusing popular singer Naira Marley of being involved in the death of fellow artist Mohbad.
