IPOB Denies Involvement In Imo State Insecurity As Viral Confession Video Emerges

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has firmly stated that they are not responsible for the ongoing insecurity in Imo State, Nigeria. The group argues that it is being wrongly accused of violent crimes and unrest, despite growing evidence that supports their consistent denials.

In a statement released by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the organization referenced a widely circulated video featuring an individual alleged to be involved in criminal activities within the region. The individual, known as Gentle Yahoo, reportedly confessed in the video and alleged that his actions were influenced by individuals with hidden political motives.

IPOB highlighted that this confession aligns with its long-held claims of non-involvement in regional disturbances. The group reiterated its stance, stating:

“The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, categorically declare that we are not responsible for the kidnappings, killings, or any form of insecurity currently troubling Imo State.”

The video, which has gained attention on social media platforms, reportedly includes a statement from the suspect distancing IPOB, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from any criminal conspiracy. IPOB believes this reinforces their narrative that efforts have been made to tarnish their image through misinformation.

Further emphasizing their mission, IPOB explained that their activities are entirely peaceful and focused on advocating for self-determination through legitimate and non-violent means.

The organization appealed to media outlets and public figures to refrain from drawing premature conclusions or making unverified accusations. IPOB encouraged thorough, unbiased investigations before assigning responsibility for criminal incidents in the state.

IPOB also called on residents of Imo State to demand transparency and accountability from public officials, urging community members to remain vigilant and informed about developments affecting their safety and well-being.

“We urge the public to scrutinize such claims critically and demand responsible journalism. Our people deserve the truth, not propaganda,” the statement concluded.
