Gunmen Invade Kakin Dawa Village in Zamfara State
In a distressing development, gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a deadly attack on Kakin Dawa, a village in the Gidan Goga district of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, around 1:30 a.m., plunging the community into chaos.
Mass Abduction of Women and Girls
Local reports indicate that the assailants, heavily armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the village, raiding homes and abducting over 50 women and girls. According to a resident, the community has been a frequent target of such violent attacks.
“Everyone fled for safety. Later, we realized more than 50 women, including young girls and married women, had been taken,” the source said.
Appeal for Security Intervention
The affected community has called on the federal and Zamfara State governments to intensify security efforts in the region. They stressed the need for more military and security personnel to combat the bandits and ensure the safety of residents.
Police Response Awaited
Efforts to obtain comments from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.
