A massive fire outbreak has destroyed properties worth millions of naira at the Araromi Spare Parts Market, situated at Agodi-Gate in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to reports from Naija News, the fire started at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday and has yet to be completely extinguished. Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the flames.
The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, Akinyemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident, stating:
“We are battling a serious inferno at Agodi-Gate. Please call on water tanker owners to assist us. The situation remains challenging.”
As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown, but investigations are ongoing to determine the source.
Other Recent Fire Incidents in Ibadan
This incident adds to a series of recent fire outbreaks in Ibadan:
- Friday Tragedy in Ori-Eru, Idikan: A devastating fire claimed the lives of a husband, wife, and their grandson in a two-story building at 3:46 a.m.
- Shops Destroyed on Sunday Morning: A separate fire on Sunday morning caused extensive damage to three shops. However, swift action by the Oyo State Fire Services saved 13 other shops from being consumed.
- Christ Apostolic Church Fire: Last Friday, during a vigil at a parish of the Christ Apostolic Church in Wisdom Estate, Lagelu Local Government Area, a fire broke out at 9:30 p.m., trapping several worshippers.
These recurring incidents highlight the urgent need for enhanced fire safety measures in Ibadan.
