A fire outbreak on Wednesday evening destroyed sections of the Radio Nigeria facility in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State, causing significant damage to the studio section of the building.

Fire Service Swiftly Responds

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Director, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident and provided details of the emergency response. The fire was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m., prompting the rapid deployment of firefighters from Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Oniru Fire Stations to the scene.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly to the fire outbreak at Radio Nigeria on Plot No. 35, Ikoyi Road, Ikoyi, Lagos,” Adeseye stated.

Fire Contained to Studio Section

The fire, intensified by the combustible materials within the studio, was confined to the studio section of the U-shaped, one-story building. The collaborative efforts of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigerian Police, and other emergency responders ensured the situation was brought under control.

“No casualties have been reported, and while the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, damping down of the fire embers continues,” Adeseye added.
