The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has officially confirmed the demotion of Muhoroni Youth FC, a football club competing in Kenya’s second division.
This action follows a thorough investigation by FIFA, which concluded that the club had engaged in manipulating football matches — a serious breach of the sport’s integrity rules.
FIFA’s disciplinary ruling, made public on Friday, determined that Muhoroni Youth had committed offenses connected to rigging football fixtures and competitions. As a result, the senior squad of Muhoroni Youth has been disqualified from participating in the National Super League, which is the second-tier football league governed by FKF.
Effective next season, Muhoroni Youth will compete in the third-tier Division One League, marking a significant fall from their current position. This development adds to a series of match-fixing controversies that have tarnished the reputation of Kenyan football in recent years.
In its official statement, FKF expressed unwavering support for FIFA’s judgment. The federation reaffirmed its strict policy against any form of match-fixing and emphasized its commitment to upholding the credibility of the sport within the country.
FKF also reinforced its “zero-tolerance” approach toward any manipulative practices that could compromise the fairness and competitive nature of the game.
