The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has announced a strict “no holiday” directive for all personnel during the Eid-il-Fitr celebrations. This decision aims to guarantee the protection of lives and property throughout the festive period.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SF Anyam Barnabas, highlighted that the FCT Controller, Mohammed Suleiman Anas, emphasized the Service’s continuous operational readiness. The directive ensures that all firefighting and emergency units remain fully functional and prepared to respond to any emergencies without delay.

During a pre-Eid briefing with station commanders, Anas instructed that maximum personnel be deployed across all units. Fire trucks, rescue vehicles, and emergency equipment are to be thoroughly checked, maintained, and ready for rapid deployment in case of incidents.

“The Federal Fire Service is a critical emergency response agency and does not observe public holidays. Our personnel are on duty round-the-clock to manage any fire or emergency situation in the FCT,” Anas stated, reassuring residents that swift intervention is guaranteed during the festive season.

Anas extended his congratulations to the Muslim community on the successful completion of Ramadan, while also issuing a safety advisory. He warned that festive periods are often linked to heightened fire risks due to increased cooking, electrical usage, and recreational activities such as fireworks.

Residents were urged to adhere to essential fire safety measures, including:

  • Turning off electrical appliances when not in use
  • Avoiding unattended cooking
  • Refraining from the use of fireworks
  • Keeping emergency contacts handy for immediate reporting

The FCT Command has made emergency reporting straightforward, with incidents promptly attended to via the hotline 08032003557.

By enforcing this no holiday directive, the FFS demonstrates its unwavering commitment to public safety, ensuring that the Federal Capital Territory remains secure during Eid celebrations.
