Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has strongly defended the tenure of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, asserting that corruption did not flourish during his administration.
In Malami’s words:
“During the period of President Muhammadu Buhari, corruption was not thriving at all. If you talk of convictions associated with high-profile corruption cases, the government recorded convictions in thousands.”
“He brought about the Single Treasury Account, which created a governance-wide visibility associated with funding the finances of the government,” Malami affirmed.
Malami’s remarks reflect a consistent defense of Buhari’s anti-corruption legacy, especially amidst widespread debates over the true extent of corruption during his administration.
