Abubakar revealed that Ibrahim Mohammed was apprehended on December 29, 2025, after being allegedly tasked by insurgents to conduct surveillance on military troop movements and vigilante operations within Yobe State. The suspect’s profile was carefully analyzed by military personnel and sister security agencies before being transferred to the Theatre Command headquarters, OPHK, in Maiduguri, Borno State, for thorough investigation. The security official expressed confidence that detailed interrogation of Mohammed would provide critical intelligence, potentially leading to the arrest of his accomplices and leaders of the insurgent cell involved. The attackers reportedly set fire to the Divisional Police Station in the area, sparking widespread panic across the community. According to information gathered from unverified local sources, the violent assault did not end with the destruction of the police facility alone. It was further alleged that a church within the community was also targeted during the operation, although details surrounding the extent of damage remain unclear. A resident who spoke to Vanguard described the atmosphere in Ipele as chaotic and distressing. He explained that the incident caused residents to abandon their homes in fear, with many fleeing to nearby towns and villages in search of safety. The source revealed that the attackers, believed to be about twenty in number, arrived in the community at approximately 10:00 pm.
