N110bn fraud case: Court adjourns Yahaya Bello’s arraignment till Nov 27

Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has postponed the arraignment of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to November 27, 2024, following new 16-count charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bello, along with Shuabu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, is facing charges related to criminal breach of trust and conspiracy involving N110.4 billion. During the session, EFCC counsel Jamiu Agoro requested a delay to ensure Bello’s presence, noting that the 30-day court-issued summons, starting from October 3, was still valid. Previously, the court ordered a public summons for Bello’s appearance, to be published in a widely read newspaper and displayed at his last known address and around the court premises. Agoro also requested an extension and permission to post a hearing notice at Bello’s last known address, emphasizing that proceeding before the expiration of the summons would be inappropriate. Meanwhile, Bello’s co-defendants, Oricha and Hudu, have received administrative bail from the EFCC. Aliyu Saiki, SAN, representing the 2nd defendant, confirmed the bail and supported the adjournment. ZE Abass, counsel for the 3rd defendant, also agreed. READ ALSO: The EFCC prosecutor mentioned that both sides had agreed to reconvene on November 27, as November 20 was not suitable. Justice Anenih approved the adjournment and the posting of the hearing notice, stating, “I have considered the application for adjournment by the complainant, the issuance of a hearing notice, and the submissions from the 2nd and 3rd defendants. The application is granted.”

President Tinubu Vows to Eliminate ‘Lukarawas’ Terrorist Group and Highlights Economic Progress

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to take decisive measures to eliminate the “Lukarawas” terrorist group from Nigeria, stressing that his administration will not allow their activities within the country. The group recently emerged in Nigeria’s northwest, taking advantage of the instability caused by the recent coup in Niger, which disrupted joint military efforts between Nigeria and Niger. At the 2024 Comptroller-General of Customs Conference in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, declared, “The Lukarawas will be flushed out of Nigeria, and we’ll put critics to shame.” He also noted that Boko Haram is retreating to neighboring countries as Nigeria becomes increasingly hostile to their operations. The coup in Niger weakened military defenses, enabling militants from Niger and Mali to cross into Nigerian states like Sokoto and Kebbi, worsening local security challenges. Despite these new threats, Tinubu expressed confidence that the situation was being managed effectively. Highlighting achievements since taking office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu pointed to improvements such as increased crude oil production in the Niger Delta, now reaching 1.8 million barrels per day, and fiscal reforms at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He emphasized that these efforts have prevented financial mismanagement at the CBN. Tinubu affirmed Nigeria’s commitment to integrating into global value chains and strengthening its status as a reliable trade partner, underlining the government’s dedication to sustainable economic and trade reforms.

EU unveils education project for 400,000 vulnerable children in Nigeria

The European Union has introduced an educational initiative called the ‘Accelerating Basic Education and Livelihood Opportunities for Children and Youth’ to support vulnerable children in North-West Nigeria. This three-year project will be conducted in partnership with Save the Children International, PLAN International, and DAG in the states of Jigawa, Kano, and Sokoto. During the launch workshop in Dutse, consortium leader Tobi Ransomed stated that the program targets approximately 400,000 out-of-school children, including nomadic groups, to enhance their access to quality, inclusive education that considers gender and conflict dynamics. The project will collaborate with the State Universal Basic Education Board and the Nomadic Education Commission to identify learning facilitators and education centers, with the ultimate goal of reintegrating these children into the school system. Ransomed highlighted that the plan includes training master trainers and facilitators in the accelerated basic education curriculum across various local government areas. Governor Umar Namadi expressed that the initiative supports his administration’s efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children and promised the government’s backing for the program. Stephen Sawa, the state lead for Jigawa from Save the Children, shared his optimism, emphasizing that Jigawa’s environment is conducive to donor support. He pointed out that Nigeria accounts for 10% of the global data on out-of-school children, with over 700,000 such children in Jigawa alone, which he described as alarming. Sawa stressed the importance of providing educational opportunities to prevent long-term negative impacts on national development. He added that the program would equip children with literacy, basic numeracy, and a better understanding of their country’s history.

Rhapsody of Realities, November 14th 2024, ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR TRUE IDENTITY

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). One of the fundamental requirements for the manifestation of truth in anyone’s life is the knowledge of that truth. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….” Ignorance leads to destruction because without understanding, people walk in darkness and fail to realize their true potential. Also, in Psalm 82:6, the Lord said, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” This verse reminds us of our divine identity and potential. However, many don’t understand and live in the reality of this truth. We see the result of this ignorance in the latter part of that verse: “But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes” (Psalm 82:7). We’re divine beings; we’re “gods” because God gave birth to us: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). James 1:18 says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” This is the profound reality of our spiritual identity: we’re as divine as He is divine because we have the same life with Him. Every so often, declare, “I know who I am!” Acknowledge your true identity. Knowing who you are in Christ empowers you and causes you to live triumphantly every day. Consider how the Lord Jesus responded to the gruelling interrogation before Pilate. When questioned and accused, Jesus remained silent until Pilate asserted his supposed authority saying, “l can free you or have you crucified.” Jesus then spoke up, summarizing His response with the acknowledgement of His true identity. He said, “You have no power over me at all” (John 19:11). Jesus’ initial silence and subsequent declaration demonstrated His unwavering understanding of who He was. Just as the Lord Jesus knew His purpose and identity, you too must recognize and embrace your divine identity. This knowledge equips you to live boldly and purposefully, regardless of external pressures or challenges. FURTHER STUDY:2 Peter 1:4;2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 2:9 AMPC PRAYERDear Father, I know and understand my true identity in Christ. I’m the righteousness of God in Christ, imbued with eternal life, the organic and existential attributes of deity. I’m victorious and vibrant, strong and excellent. I walk in the light of this truth every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. FURTHER STUDY:2 Peter 1:4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Corinthians 5:17Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 1 Peter 2:9 AMPCBut you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. I am in Christ! I reign in righteousness; thus, no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I dwell in the secret place of the Most High God, and I function with the ability of the Spirit always. I refuse to think or talk sickness, for I am the seed of Abraham. The Lord keeps me in perfect peace continually because my mind is focused on the Word of God. I am vibrant. I enjoy divine health every day, all year round. I do not wane with age; rather my strength is renewed daily like the eagles. I have entered into the zone of agelessness, deathlessness, and wantlessness. God’s divine nature takes absolute pre-eminence over my spirit, soul, and body. I refuse to let any contrary condition take root in me or affect anything that concerns me I am sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency, and His superabundant grace upon my life is enough for me in all things. Grace—the lifting power of God that attracts the right people, materials and resources—has put me ahead and positioned me for success and victory. I think thoughts of peace, joy, victory, prosperity, and good health. I’m seated together with Christ in the heavenly realms. Far above all principality, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come! I’m exalted with Him in glory; I know who I am: chosen, royal, and peculiar! I experience the supernatural in my body every day by the power of God’s Spirit. Daily, the Word produces what it talks about in me, causing me to radiate good health and strength and to display a life of peace with prosperity. I have all things that pertain to life and godliness. I walk in divine health and prosperity and function from a vantage position of victory and unending success in Christ. With the Word in my heart and on my lips, I’ll forever be indomitable. I flourish exceedingly every day, everywhere, and at all times. I walk in health, victory, and triumph because I function in the Name of Jesus. My life is for glory and excellence. I manifest God’s bountiful blessings of success, prosperity, health, and joy, so that all may see and glorify Him. My life is exuberant with joy and I walk in the manifestations of God’s righteousness in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Speak in tongues.
