When you study the Synoptic Gospels—Matthew, Mark and Luke—you’d observe different perspectives to the Lord’s instruction with respect to the preaching of the Gospel. However, one theme stands out: The Gospel is to be preached to every man, woman, boy and girl; it’s for all nations. Mark gives us a clear structure for our mission as read in our opening scripture. The disciples went forth and preached everywhere; they did their part, and the Lord did His part by confirming the Word they preached with signs. This makes our responsibility clear: We preach the Word, and it’s the Lord’s responsibility to confirm it with signs following. In Luke 24:46-47, we see another significant aspect of the Master’s instructions. Luke, who had a deep understanding of the events surrounding Jesus’ ministry, adds a crucial point about the content of the Gospel that we’re to preach: repentance and remission of sins, “…Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” While Matthew emphasized teaching all that Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:19-20), and Mark focused on preaching the Gospel which the Lord confirms with signs (Mark 16:19-20), Luke gave us the full picture. The Lord’s message was not just to teach or preach but to declare repentance and remission of sins among all nations. The early disciples initially kept the message within the Jewish community. They may have thought the Gospel was only for the Jews scattered among the nations, or perhaps they misunderstood the global scope of the Lord’s command. But the Gospel was always meant for all nations, for every creature (Mark 16:15). This revelation became clear through discussions like those recorded in Acts 15, where they finally embraced the full scope of the Lord’s mission. Today, we carry that same mission, teaching all that Jesus commanded, preaching the Gospel to every creature and to all nations, declaring repentance and the remission of sins in His Name. And the Lord continues to work with us, confirming His Word with signs following. Praise God! How beautiful it is to know that when God looks at me, He sees me complete, lacking nothing necessary for life and godliness. I refuse to live with a lack mentality as though there are certain things I don’t have. I am totally inundated with the consciousness of my completeness. Just as there’s nothing of God lacking in Jesus, there’s nothing of the Master lacking in me. The Master never had a sense of lack because He knew the world and everything in it belonged to Him. I, therefore, walk in the mentality of abundance because I lack nothing. I have all things that pertain to life and godliness. Christ is my all; I’m complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power; there’s no shortage in my life. I’m full of ideas, inspiration, with wealth, prosperity and all the blessings of the Kingdom; and out of that abundance, I impact my world. I am complete in Christ Jesus, and I’ve been perfected through my union with Him. I’ve been created for good works and predestinated for the good life; there is nothing wrong in my body. I’ve got everything I require for an excellent life. The Holy Spirit has brought the glory of God into my life, giving me guidance and direction; He makes me creative and innovative. He’s filled me with supernatural ability to do things beyond the ordinary; I see value where others don’t; I bring new things into this world. I have insight into mysteries and secrets through the Holy Spirit. I’m Spirit-ruled and Word-governed. I see through the Word, understand by the Word, and renew my mind with the Word. President Bola Tinubu dispels rumors of conflict with governors over local government autonomy, emphasizing collaboration for Nigeria’s prosperity and development. President Bola Tinubu has refuted claims of disagreements with Nigerian governors regarding local government autonomy, emphasizing the importance of their collaboration in driving national development. Speaking during a New Year homage at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, President Tinubu addressed Vice President Kashim Shettima and members of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF). He highlighted the pivotal role governors play in fostering economic growth, food security, and national prosperity. Governors as the Backbone of National Development President Tinubu stressed that state governors are the most critical link to achieving grassroots development, as the federal government only accounts for 30–35% of allocated revenue. “The agricultural value chain depends on you. You own the land, and the job is in your hands,” he stated. He urged stronger federal-state collaboration to address pressing issues, including local government autonomy, agricultural productivity, and currency stability. Commitment to Local Government Autonomy Dispelling rumors of conflict with the governors, Tinubu reiterated his support for local government development. “We will not fight within us. Nobody wants to take local governments away from you. Let’s collaborate to ensure Nigeria is better off for it,” he said. Focus on Agricultural Growth and Economic Stability Highlighting agriculture as a cornerstone of economic stability, President Tinubu encouraged governors to prioritize agricultural productivity and address currency challenges. “We have to work harder, grow more, and ensure the situation of our currency improves. Nigeria will see prosperity, but it requires consistent effort from all of us,” he noted. Acknowledging Progress and Resilience President Tinubu commended the governors for their achievements across various states, expressing pride in their collective progress. Reflecting on his 19 months in office, he shared optimism about Nigeria’s capacity to thrive under resilient leadership. “I am glad I asked for this job, and Nigerians gave me the mandate. We’ll be on this voyage together,” he said, adding that he plans to visit Enugu State on January 4 as part of his nationwide tour. Tinubu Named “Man of the Year” The President welcomed his recognition by ThisDay newspaper as Man of the Year, calling it an acknowledgment of the administration’s progress. Kwara State Governor and NGF Chairman Abdulrahman Abdulrazak lauded the recognition, citing significant policy successes in agriculture and economic restructuring. “The policies are working. In Jigawa, there was a bumper harvest, and traders exported the produce due to the currency strength,” Abdulrazak explained. He added that governors are working to enhance food security and support national economic policies. Strengthening Security and Development Governor Abdulrazak assured Tinubu of the governors’ unwavering support, particularly in bolstering local security frameworks to improve national safety. “We are getting more funding due to the restructuring of the economy. Yes, there is inflation, but we are overriding it,” he added.
