The Osun State Police Command has officially appointed a new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abiodun Ojelabi Zechariah. In an announcement made by the outgoing PPRO, SP Adeoye Akeem Adeola, on behalf of Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba, it was confirmed that DSP Zechariah has assumed office. The statement also highlighted that he is replacing SP Adeoye Akeem Adeola, who has now been reassigned to the Ondo State Police Command. According to the statement, “DSP Zechariah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Nigeria Police Academy. He was inducted into the Nigeria Police Force in 2018 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and was part of the Regular Course 1 at the Police Academy (POLAC).” Before his current posting to Osun State, DSP Zechariah had served as a Unit Commander at the 4 PMF in Ibadan. His appointment is part of the command’s efforts to strengthen communication and public relations strategies. Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, recently inaugurated two newly appointed government officials, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Meribeole and Rev. Annie Onu, urging them to serve the state with dedication and excellence. During the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House in Umuahia, Otti emphasized that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption and substandard performance, stating such behaviors would not be tolerated. Governor Otti addressed both appointees, urging them to meet the high expectations of the people of Abia. He specifically cautioned Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Meribeole, who will serve as Special Adviser on Projects, and Rev. Annie Onu, who will take on the role of Executive Secretary of the Abia State Diaspora Commission, to uphold the integrity of their positions. “We stand firmly against corruption and poor performance,” Otti declared, stressing that the state’s governance must adhere to the highest standards. Governor Otti also acknowledged the wealth of experience brought by the new appointees. Meribeole, a retired Permanent Secretary from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, has already been involved in the ongoing construction of the Abia Airport. Rev. Annie Onu, a member of the Abia Diaspora Commission, will coordinate the commission’s activities, ensuring seamless communication between the diaspora and those at home.
