Romans 6:10-11 is the reality of your life in Christ. You’re dead to sin and alive unto God. You’re not under the dominion of sin or death. The old nature that was a slave to sin is dead—crucified with Christ—and now you live in the newness of life. You’re alive to righteousness, glory, and the Lordship of Jesus. It helps us understand what the Bible says in Romans 6:12, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” This means you have authority over your body, over your thoughts, over everything that pertains to you. You’re no longer subject to failure, decay, or destruction. You’ve come out of spiritual death into the realm of life—God’s life. When you touch things, they don’t deteriorate; they improve. Why? Because the righteousness of God fixes things; it carries life, success and glory; and you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Think about it: the whole creation is in bondage because of corruption. Everything in the world has been subjected to decay and destruction: “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now” (Romans 8:22). But what is the creation waiting for? The preceding verse 19 tells us; it says, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” You’re the one to set creation free from the bondage of corruption. Everything connected to you—Your clothes, your cars, your home—is meant to reflect and be impacted by the life of God, because as read in our theme scripture, you’re an instrument of righteousness. This means wherever you go, things get better. Whoever encounters you is improved, because the righteousness of God functions through you. You’re a carrier of life, restoration, and glory. You don’t just exist; you reign, you fix and renew things. Let this be your consciousness: you’re the manifestation of Christ’s righteousness. A wave of sorrow swept through Ogun State Television (OGTV) on Monday following the unexpected death of Mrs. Bukola Agbakaizu, a seasoned female journalist who tragically collapsed while preparing for her afternoon shift. The unfortunate incident was officially confirmed on Tuesday evening by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council. As reported by the NUJ, Mrs. Agbakaizu slumped within the OGTV premises and was immediately transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Mr. Bunmi Adigun, the Secretary of the NUJ Ogun Council, paid tribute to the late journalist, describing her as a diligent and spirited professional who made lasting contributions to journalism. “Bukola Agbakaizu, a loyal employee at OGTV, tragically collapsed as she prepared for her afternoon broadcast. Despite prompt medical intervention, she was confirmed dead at the hospital,” the statement disclosed. Authorities in Gombe State have arrested two men in separate disturbing cases involving the alleged sexual assault of minors. One of the incidents involved a 47-year-old man, Mohammed Magaji, who was taken into custody for reportedly assaulting his two-year-old stepdaughter in the Magaji community of Tudun Wada, Shamaki Quarters. The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the development in an official press statement released on Tuesday by its spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi. The alleged incident occurred on May 5, 2025. According to the police spokesperson, the suspect’s wife, Hauwau Usman, filed a formal complaint at approximately 9:32 AM. Usman reported that her husband had taken the toddler into his private room around 9:00 AM, where he allegedly committed the unlawful act. Following the complaint, a team of law enforcement officers was dispatched immediately to the residence. Upon arrival, they successfully arrested the suspect. Both the child and the accused were transported to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe for a medical examination to support the ongoing investigation. Abdullahi disclosed that legal proceedings will commence as soon as the investigative process is completed. Another Arrest for Alleged Defilement in Gombe In a similar incident on the same day, May 5, the police apprehended Isah Adamu, a 35-year-old resident of Golkos Quarters in Billiri Local Government Area, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl. According to the police, Adamu is accused of luring the young girl into a home located in Awai Quarters, where he allegedly committed the act. The victim’s mother immediately contacted law enforcement authorities, who acted swiftly to arrest the suspect and secure the scene. Both the victim and the accused were taken to the General Hospital in Kaltungo for medical assessment. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, according to DSP Abdullahi. In addition to these two cases, the Gombe Police Command confirmed the arrest of 18 more suspects in connection with a series of criminal offenses recently reported throughout the state.
