The unfortunate incident occurred while the victims were heading home after attending a Bible study session at the Kasemola area in Ogbese, situated within Akure North Local Government Area. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the kidnappers had strategically laid in wait for the church members before ambushing them and dragging them into the nearby forest. A member of the church, who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident through a message that read: “Good morning, beloved. Kindly pray along with us. Three of our members were kidnapped yesterday (Monday) after bible study at Kasemola inside the Ogbese axis.” The local church community has since launched prayer efforts, seeking divine intervention for the safe return of the abducted individuals. Law enforcement agencies and the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State have been officially notified about the incident. An inside source revealed that the kidnappers have already established contact, demanding a ransom of ₦5 million for the release of the victims. Speaking on the matter, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that security operatives have been dispatched to the affected area. Following the initial attack, a coordinated counter-offensive involving both ground troops and aerial support was launched. This joint effort led to the successful recapture of the community and the elimination of several insurgents. According to military sources, the troops engaged the terrorists as they attempted to infiltrate the area, resulting in the neutralization of the attackers and the pursuit of those who fled. A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, where Reverend Father James Omeh, the parish priest of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Gulu and coordinator of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Lapai LGA, lost his life along with his passenger, Charity John. The duo was swept away by floodwaters after attempting to navigate a collapsed bridge on the Lapai-Gulu Road, which had been destroyed by heavy rainfall the previous night. According to local sources, Father Omeh was driving his Hilux vehicle when he encountered the damaged bridge. In an effort to avoid the hazard, he attempted to make a U-turn towards Duma village. However, the vehicle was overwhelmed by the strong floodwaters, leading to the tragic drowning of both occupants. Their bodies were later recovered with assistance from local volunteers and the Sarkin Ruwa (King of Water) from a nearby village. Residents have long expressed concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Lapai-Gulu Road, urging the government to take immediate action to prevent further tragedies. The community’s calls for intervention have intensified following this incident. In response to the tragedy, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago extended his condolences to the Christian Association of Nigeria and the broader Christian community. In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Communication, Media and Strategy, Jonathan Vatsa, Governor Bago described Father Omeh’s death as a significant loss to both the religious community and the state. Giwa alleges that a baseless charge was filed against him and another individual, purportedly influenced by financial inducement. He also called for the withdrawal of the charge against him and a re-examination of Charge No. CR/150/25, IGP v. Victor Giwa and another. Giwa asserts that his prosecution stems from his opposition to falsehoods and his insistence on due process. He detailed that on June 26, 2024, officers led by CSP Maga, acting on advice from CP Legal, forcibly entered apartments at No. 1 Mekong Close, Maitama, Abuja, placing Ms. Waziri in possession. This action occurred despite a pending application for a Stay of Execution, a Notice of Appeal (Appeal No: CA/ABJ/CV/246/2022), and an existing positive order from the High Court in Keffi, Nasarawa State (Suit No. NSD/K70F/2024), all served on Ms. Waziri and the police. Giwa recounted his arrest as legal counsel for Cecil Osakwe and Abeh Signature Apartment, during which he was compelled to open the flats. He refused, citing ongoing litigation in both the Supreme Court and the High Court. Nevertheless, under CP Legal’s directive, officers broke into the apartments, granting Ms. Waziri possession, where she remains to date. He contends that CP Legal is leveraging his position to initiate charges aimed at silencing dissent and shielding unlawful actions that tarnish the Nigerian Police’s reputation. Giwa described the charge, filed at Ms. Waziri’s behest, as baseless, frivolous, and vindictive, driven by her intent to use CP Legal to target him.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has authorized the immediate dismissal of the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister C.O.C. Akaolisa. The press release directed the former Attorney General to transfer all government assets under his custody to the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Imo State Ministry of Justice without delay. His dismissal comes just a few weeks after the removal of the recently appointed Chief Judge of the state, Theophilus Nzeukwu. You looked at your life and said, “I’ve been at this stage for too long; it’s time to move up!” This is important because you should always desire growth and advancement! Our life in Christ is upward and forward; it’s from faith to faith, grace to grace, and from glory to glory. At every stage, I always set clear targets for my life. I determine what I would achieve at different times, and the remarkable thing is, I always hit my targets ahead of schedule. This taught me an important lesson: setting goals works. But beyond setting goals, taking action is what brings results. Some people wait, hoping that God will step in and change their situation without them doing anything. But that’s not how it works. There’re things God does, and there’re things you must do. Think about a farmer; he cultivates his land, plants seeds, and waters them, but he doesn’t make them grow. He understands that if he follows this process, the soil will cause the seed to germinate and produce a harvest. Where is God in all these? He’s the One who gives life to the seed. The soil itself carries a divine mystery; when a seed is planted, it dies first, and then God’s power causes it to spring back to life. Now, imagine a farmer who never plants anything. Harvest time will still come, but while others are reaping, he will have nothing, because he didn’t plant anything. It’s the same with life—if you don’t plant seeds, you won’t see a harvest. I discovered that planting seeds into my mind and heart produces results. Even greater is the discovery that I can plant seeds into the realm of the spirit and reap a supernatural harvest!
