In a formal statement released by Josephine Adeh, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), it was revealed that Yahaya Saleh approached the police investigators handling the kidnapping case with a bribe of ₦1.5 million. His intention was to unlawfully influence the investigation and facilitate the suspect’s freedom. The police narrated that Saleh made direct contact with the investigation team, proposing the ₦1.5 million bribe to compromise the integrity of the ongoing inquiry. However, the officers handling the case rejected the illicit offer without hesitation and proceeded to activate the appropriate legal mechanisms. As a result, the suspect, Yahaya Saleh, was immediately arrested by the authorities for attempting to obstruct justice.
