Vice President JD Vance Backs Trump’s Foreign Envoy Amidst Rising Criticism

United States Vice President JD Vance has strongly defended Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s foreign envoy, against mounting criticism, asserting that those attacking him are frustrated by his success.

Taking to his official X handle on Monday, Vance criticized Witkoff’s detractors, claiming they are enraged because he has achieved what they failed to accomplish over the past four decades.

“Steve Witkoff is an outstanding individual doing a phenomenal job. The people criticizing him are simply angry that he is excelling where they failed for 40 years,” Vance stated.

“It turns out that much of diplomacy is about one essential skill: don’t be an idiot.”

Why Is Steve Witkoff Facing Backlash?

According to a report by Daily Post, Witkoff has recently been under intense scrutiny following his remarks about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During a meeting in Moscow last week, Witkoff disclosed that Putin told him he had prayed for Donald Trump after the former U.S. president was shot. The statement, made in an interview with Tucker Carlson, sparked controversy, especially when Witkoff described Putin as a “great leader” working towards resolving Russia’s three-year-long war with Ukraine.

These comments ignited backlash, particularly from opposition figures in the U.S. who argue that Putin should be held accountable for the ongoing war and its civilian casualties.
