In a significant leadership transition within the traditional institution of Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has formally approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir of Gusau.
The new royal appointment follows the recent passing of his father, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the 15th Emir of Gusau, who died on July 25, 2025, after a decade-long reign that witnessed both cultural and socio-political impact within the state.
Alhaji Abdulkadir, who prior to his elevation held the prestigious traditional title of Bunun Gusau, ascends the throne as the 16th Emir of the ancient emirate. Notably, he is the eldest son of the late Dr. Ibrahim Bello, making his succession both symbolic and culturally significant.
This royal succession marks a pivotal chapter in the Gusau Emirate’s history, symbolizing a generational shift rooted in tradition, respect, and governance.
