Yunice Abbas, a 71-year-old defendant in the 2016 armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris, has publicly expressed regret for his involvement in the high-profile heist. During the ongoing trial in Paris, Abbas acknowledged the psychological trauma inflicted on Kardashian, stating, “I regret it, not because I got caught, but because there was a trauma”
Abbas, who has a history of criminal activity, admitted to acting as a lookout during the robbery, while his accomplices entered Kardashian’s hotel room, restrained her, and stole approximately $10 million worth of jewelry, including a $4 million engagement ring . He later detailed his role in the crime in a 2021 book titled “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian,” a title he claims was chosen by the publisher and not reflective of his actual involvement
The trial, which began on April 28, 2025, involves ten defendants, many of whom are in their 60s and 70s, leading French media to dub them the “grandpa robbers” . Kim Kardashian is expected to testify in person on May 13, providing her account of the traumatic event that significantly impacted her life and public persona .
