Yobe Governor Buni Denies Joining Atiku’s Opposition Coalition Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has firmly denied any involvement in the emerging coalition of opposition leaders allegedly spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In an official statement released by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, on Saturday in Damaturu, Buni emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a report by LMSINT MEDIA, rumors circulated through a viral text message suggesting that Buni, along with four other APC governors, had finalized plans to defect to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, Mohammed categorically dismissed these claims, labeling them as baseless fabrications and mere assumptions that have no basis in reality.
He criticized the author of the viral text for having no credible connection to Governor Buni, arguing that no individual close to the governor could ever accurately predict his political trajectory.

“Governor Mai Mala Buni is not just an APC governor; he embodies the spirit of the APC,” Mohammed stressed.
He highlighted Buni’s exceptional contributions to the party, noting his pivotal roles as a two-term National Secretary and as the Chairman of the APC Convention Committee. These achievements, Mohammed argued, make any speculation about Buni abandoning the APC not just unlikely but entirely illogical.

The statement concluded by suggesting that the perpetrators of the rumors might be admirers of Buni’s political strategies who merely wish to see him aligned with their interests — describing such hopes as mere wishful thinking.
