World Bank Approves $2.95 Billion Loan For Nigeria In 2025

The World Bank is gearing up to approve a fresh round of loans amounting to $2.95 billion for Nigeria in 2025. According to the global financial institution’s project list, the funds will be allocated across six key development projects aimed at enhancing economic resilience, education, health, and digital infrastructure.

Breakdown of the World Bank’s $2.95 Billion Loan for Nigeria

The financial support is distributed among the following initiatives:

Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus Programme – A total of $500 million, scheduled for approval by March 17, 2025.
HOPE for Quality Basic Education for All – Set to receive $552 million, with approval expected by March 31, 2025.
Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria 2.0 – Expected to secure $800 million on March 31, 2025.
Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host Communities Project – Allocated $300 million, with final approval slated for July 15, 2025.
Health Security Program – Another $300 million, scheduled for August 19, 2025.
Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Growth (BRIDGE) – A fund of $500 million, expected to be approved by September 15, 2025.

Status of Loan Approval Stages

While some of these projects are in their early development stages, others have advanced to negotiations. The BRIDGE Initiative and Health Security Programme are currently undergoing a concept review, indicating that they are still in the planning phase. On the other hand, the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria 2.0 and HOPE for Quality Basic Education for All projects have reached the negotiation stage, bringing them closer to final approval.

This latest financial commitment follows the $1.5 billion loan Nigeria secured from the World Bank in 2024, aimed at strengthening resource mobilization and ensuring economic stability. The ongoing financial interventions reflect the World Bank’s continued support for Nigeria’s development agenda.
