Wike Says Accusers of PDP Destabilization Have Joined APC – Clearing the Path for Tinubu Government

Supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, say that individuals who have accused him of undermining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are themselves now members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Wike argues that rather than criticize, these people ought to recognize his efforts in facilitating the current administration under President Bola Tinubu.

Wike claims that those who previously charged him with destabilizing the PDP have since jumped ship and joined the APC. He frames this transition not as betrayal, but as a confirmation of his earlier warnings, and an indication that his critics were less invested in the party’s welfare than in political opportunism.

He further states that his work for the Tinubu government should be seen as clearing the path—ensuring a stability necessary for governance—despite claims to the contrary. To Wike, the critics’ defection to APC strengthens his contention that his actions were always aligned with what he sees as the inevitable political direction.

There is deep frustration in PDP circles, according to Wike, because internal party agreements have been breached by certain governors and party stakeholders. He says that despite many years of loyalty — since the party’s early days in 1998 in his case — some leaders have followed ambitions rather than have adhered to collective decisions. He insists that his involvement with Tinubu’s camp does not represent disloyalty, but rather that the accusations leveled against him reflect the shifting allegiances in Nigerian politics.
