Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has affirmed that Siminalayi Fubara, the embattled Governor of Rivers State, remains his political protégé.
This revelation came during an interview with BBC Pidgin, which was made public on Saturday afternoon.
During the session, Wike made it clear that his dispute is not with Fubara himself, but rather with a group of individuals whom he alleges are manipulating the governor against him.
“There is no real conflict with him. Fubara is like a son to me,” Wike asserted. “Why would I go to war with someone I consider my political child?”
The FCT minister further explained that his ongoing struggle is against those who are allegedly attempting to seize influence and resources without earning them.
“My fight is not with Fubara. It’s with the opportunists who are trying to claim what they didn’t labor for,” he emphasized. “If you don’t completely defeat such people, they will keep trying. They’re now embarrassed because they’ve lost ground—and these are the very people misleading Fubara.”
According to LMSINT MEDIA, Wike and Fubara have been entangled in a political dispute since 2023, a conflict that has deepened tensions and instability within Rivers State.
Reports indicate that Governor Fubara, who was suspended by President Bola Tinubu after a state of emergency was declared in the state, has recently extended an apology to his former mentor, Wike.
