Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Opens Up on Gospel Artists’ Departure from Christ Embassy
Renowned preacher and founder of LoveWorld, also known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has disclosed the reasons behind the departure of some gospel artists from the ministry.
Oyakhilome explained that these musicians became more focused on gaining popularity and financial success rather than remaining dedicated to their spiritual calling. He expressed concern that worship music had taken on a worldly tone, drifting away from its intended purpose of genuine devotion to God.
He emphasized that while these artists actively participated in praise and worship sessions, many neglected prayer meetings. According to him, this was a clear indication that their commitment to their faith was wavering.
“The church was turned into a party place, not a prayer place where God’s word was truly celebrated,” Oyakhilome stated in a widely circulated video. “They were not soul winners; they led praise in church, and when it was time for prayers, they were gone.”
Furthermore, he revealed that some of these musicians started demanding fees for their performances, prioritizing personal financial gain over their spiritual responsibilities. Initially, he appreciated their contributions but later attempted to correct their path, only to face resistance.
“I told them the Lord wanted us to do the right thing… but they had become too popular. Because they were making even a little money… do they even know what big money is? That little money became too attractive to them, so they didn’t want to follow me anymore and chose a different path,” he explained.
At 61, Oyakhilome expressed his hope that those who strayed would eventually reconsider their decisions and realign with their spiritual journey.
