WAEC 2024 Results Released – 43,923 Candidates Score Over 5 Credits

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the release of results for the 2024 second series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.

Strong Performance in WAEC 2024 Examination

According to the latest statistics, 43,923 candidates, accounting for 67.55% of those who took part in the examination, achieved credit and above in at least five subjects. This marks a notable improvement compared to previous years.

In an official statement by WAEC’s acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, it was revealed that out of the 65,023 students who sat for the examination, 34,878 candidates (53.64%) secured credit and above in five subjects, including core subjects like English Language and Mathematics.

Significant Improvement Over Previous Years

The performance shows a 9.35% increase from previous years. In 2022, only 42.16% of candidates achieved similar success, while in 2023, the figure stood at 44.29%. This upward trend signals positive developments in educational outcomes for private candidates.

Exam Centers and Participation

The WAEC 2024 second series examination was conducted in a total of 5,067 centers nationwide, with candidates taking the tests in both traditional paper-and-pen format and the computer-based mode. The participation was well-balanced in terms of gender, with 31,504 male candidates and 33,519 female candidates, making up 51.55% of the total examinees.

Processing and Withheld Results

WAEC reported that 62,354 candidates (95.90%) had their results fully processed and released. However, 2,669 candidates (4.10%) are still awaiting their results due to submission-related errors.

Additionally, 2,577 candidates (3.96%) had their results withheld due to alleged examination malpractice. Affected students are advised to visit the official WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice Portal to make the necessary representations regarding their cases.
