What was expected to be a routine pre-season friendly match between Como 1907 and Real Betis on Wednesday erupted into utter disorder as a heated altercation broke out between the players, leading to chaotic scenes on the pitch.

The incident unfolded during the pre-season fixture held at Estadio Municipal de La Línea de la Concepción in Cádiz, Spain. The brawl stemmed from a confrontation between Pablo Fornals of Real Betis and Como’s Maximo Perrone just before the end of the first half.

According to footage from the match, Fornals appeared to land a punch on Perrone, which immediately triggered retaliation attempts from the Como midfielder. The fiery exchange quickly escalated, drawing in multiple players from both teams as tensions ran high.

Players from both sides swarmed the scene in an attempt to either break up or join the scuffle. However, what started as a confrontation between two players evolved into a mass grappling match, with several players exchanging shoves and becoming physically aggressive.

Despite initiating the conflict with a punch, Fornals astonishingly escaped without a red card. In a controversial refereeing decision, the match official instead issued red cards to Maximo Perrone and Héctor Bellerín, a former Arsenal right-back now playing for Real Betis.

At the time of the altercation, Como was leading 2-0, clearly dominating the first half. However, the second half saw a spirited comeback from Real Betis, who managed to level the score at 2-2. The match ultimately ended in favor of Como 1907, after Iván Azón scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner, sealing a 3-2 victory for the team managed by Cesc Fàbregas.
