US Declares Sugar A Toxic Substance – Urges Citizens To Cut Out Added Sugar

In a bold public health declaration, the United States government has issued a stern warning to its citizens regarding the dangers of added sugar, referring to it as a toxic substance.

On Tuesday, U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. emphasized the urgent need for Americans to stop consuming added sugars entirely. In his statement, Kennedy labeled sugar as “poison” and called for updated federal dietary guidelines that recommend zero sugar intake.

Although acknowledging the difficulty in completely removing sugar from processed foods, Kennedy insisted that the government would intensify efforts to ensure better product labeling. This step aims to help consumers understand exactly how much sugar is present in what they eat.

“Sugar is poison, and Americans need to be aware that it’s harming our health,” Kennedy stated during a press conference. “While we may not be able to eliminate it entirely, we can equip people with accurate information and stronger nutrition guidance recommending zero sugar consumption.”

Kennedy also expressed concerns about the prevalence of artificial dyes, particularly those derived from petroleum, in many food products. He announced a plan to phase out such harmful additives within two years.

This initiative follows the Biden administration’s prior efforts to ban Red No. 3, a food coloring associated with cancer in animal studies. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is currently reviewing public health concerns linked to several synthetic dyes still found in widely consumed products.

Americans, Kennedy stressed, are largely unaware of what they are ingesting. The new campaign seeks to educate citizens on their food choices and pave the way for healthier living.
