LMSINT MEDIA reports that at least 12 civilians lost their lives and 30 others sustained injuries in overnight US military airstrikes targeting the Farwa district in Sanaa, according to the Huthi-affiliated Saba news agency.

The report indicates the strikes hit both a residential neighborhood and a local market, causing severe devastation. Additional raids were documented in other Yemeni regions, including Marib (central province), Hodeida (western region), and Saada, the northern stronghold of the Huthis.

Huthi Response: Attacks on US Carriers and Israeli Sites

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the official spokesperson of the Huthi military, stated that in retaliation for the deadly strikes, the group executed targeted drone offensives against two US aircraft carriers and Israeli military positions.

He further declared these actions a direct response to continuous American aggression in Yemeni territories.

US Justification and Ongoing Operations

The US military has been conducting frequent operations in Yemen, claiming it aims to deter the Iran-supported Huthis from interfering with international maritime activities in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

On Thursday, a US-led strike on the Ras Issa oil terminal reportedly caused over 80 deaths and injured 150, intensifying concerns over civilian safety.

According to the United Nations, Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern over the escalation, urging both parties to de-escalate hostilities. He particularly urged the Huthis to halt their drone and missile launches toward Israel and stop targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Root of the Conflict: Huthi Solidarity with Hamas

The Huthis stated their missile offensives were launched in solidarity with Hamas, amid its conflict with Israeli forces in Gaza. This transnational show of support has contributed to the broader regional instability.

The latest wave of US strikes, according to analysts, escalated after President Donald Trump resumed office in January 2025, marking a more aggressive shift in US foreign policy in the Middle East.
