The United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation into a United Airlines flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Washington, D.C., following a sudden aircraft movement that resulted in injuries to passengers and cabin crew members.
Incident Details
According to the NTSB, the unexpected turbulence occurred while United Flight 613, a Boeing 787, was flying through Ivory Coast airspace. The incident prompted immediate concerns, leading to a collaborative effort between United Airlines and aviation regulators in both the U.S. and Nigeria to determine the cause.
United Airlines’ Response
United Airlines released an official statement addressing the situation:
“Our flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Washington, D.C., experienced a technical issue and an unexpected movement of the aircraft. As a precaution, the flight returned safely to Lagos. Four passengers and two flight attendants sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital before being released. We are actively working with aviation authorities in the U.S. and Nigeria to investigate the cause of the incident.”
Investigation Underway
