Valencia earned a crucial point in their LaLiga encounter against Rayo Vallecano, thanks to a well-timed goal by Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq at the Estadio de Vallecas on Saturday.
The hosts took the lead just before the halftime break when Cesar Tarrega unfortunately turned the ball into his own net, giving Rayo Vallecano a 1-0 advantage.
Valencia responded in the second half, introducing Umar Sadiq in the 66th minute to inject fresh energy into the attack, replacing Andre Almeida. The 27-year-old striker didn’t disappoint, netting the equaliser in the 74th minute with a powerful strike that left the Rayo goalkeeper with no chance.
This goal marks Sadiq’s fifth strike in just 10 LaLiga appearances for Valencia this season, underlining his growing importance to the squad.
With this draw, Carlos Corberán’s Valencia side has now extended their unbeaten run in the Spanish top flight to seven games — equaling their best record since December 2021. This consistency is a positive sign for the team’s aspirations in the current campaign.
