Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal etched his name into the history books on Wednesday night by becoming the youngest player to score in a UEFA Champions League semi-final.
The teenage sensation surpassed the previous record set by Kylian Mbappe, delivering a mesmerizing performance during Barcelona’s intense 3-3 draw against Inter Milan.
The Spanish international executed a dazzling solo run, weaving past the Inter Milan defense before curling the ball into the net—an extraordinary goal that revitalized Barcelona’s hopes.
Before Yamal’s brilliance, Inter Milan had taken a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries. However, Yamal’s electrifying effort shifted the momentum, helping the Catalan giants claw back into the encounter. Ultimately, both sides shared the spoils in the first leg of the semi-final fixture.
At just 17 years and 291 days, Yamal has now become the youngest footballer to score in the semi-final stage of Europe’s elite club competition. He broke Mbappe’s 2017 record when the Frenchman scored for Monaco against Juventus at 18 years and 140 days old.
Yamal has now tallied four goals and four assists in 11 Champions League appearances, finding the net at every stage of the tournament so far—a feat that underscores his rapid rise in European football.
