South African music sensation Tyla is breaking new ground as she becomes the first African artist to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. This landmark announcement was made by the event’s organizers on Thursday, creating waves across global entertainment platforms.
Tyla, who has already made headlines as a Grammy Award-winning artist, will bring her charisma and energy to the grand stage of the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards. The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to air live on June 21 from the iconic Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
Adding more feathers to her cap, Tyla has earned two major nominations for this year’s awards. She is nominated in the Favourite Global Music Star category and also recognized for Favourite Music Collaboration for her song Show Me Love, a hit track she performed alongside WizTheMc, and bees & honey.
Meanwhile, the awards’ nomination list features some of the biggest names in global pop culture. Artists like Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga are front-runners this year with four nominations each. Following closely behind are Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, all of whom earned three nominations apiece.
Overwhelmed with joy, Tyla took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening to express her excitement. She posted, “I’m really about to host the kids choice awards,” reflecting her enthusiasm and pride in achieving this groundbreaking milestone.
