The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two individuals accused of kidnapping an online vendor who went to deliver goods in the Iyana-Ishashi area of Lagos.
Incident Overview
According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, the victim was abducted while fulfilling a delivery order. During a press briefing at the police headquarters in Ikeja on Monday, Hundeyin disclosed details of the incident.
“The victim received an order and proceeded to the provided address. Upon arrival, the suspects, a man and a woman, forcibly pulled her inside the house,” he explained.
Kidnapping and Extortion Attempt
Once inside, the assailants allegedly stripped the vendor, assaulted her, and took nude photographs. They then demanded a ransom of N2 million, threatening to release the explicit images if the amount was not paid.
Under duress, the victim transferred N300,000 before she was permitted to leave, with the kidnappers insisting she pay the remaining balance later.
Police Intervention and Arrest
Following the incident, the victim reported the case to the authorities, prompting swift action from the police. “The suspects were tracked and taken into custody. They are currently being interrogated as investigations progress,” Hundeyin confirmed.
The Lagos State Police Command continues its investigation, urging residents to exercise caution when making in-person deliveries.
