The General Department of Criminal Investigation (GDCI) in Kuwait has arrested two Nigerian nationals for their alleged involvement in the robbery of an exchange office in the Ahmadi Province. The suspects reportedly stole $14,918 (approximately 4,600 Kuwaiti Dinars).
Swift Arrest Within 24 Hours
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, as reported by Arab Times Online, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended within 24 hours of the crime. The robbery occurred at an exchange office in Mahboula, a district in southern Kuwait City.
Video footage published on Arab Times Online captured one of the suspects stepping out of a vehicle wearing a balaclava. The footage shows him entering the exchange office and pointing what appeared to be a firearm at an employee.
Details of the Robbery
According to reports, the suspects executed a well-planned operation. Investigations revealed that the gang monitored exchange offices from nearby rooftops to identify peak operational hours. Additionally, they used stolen license plates to disguise the vehicles used during the robbery.
Confession and Recovery of Evidence
One of the suspects confessed after his arrest in Mahboula, admitting that he had scouted the area and alerted his accomplice when the exchange office was free of customers. The second suspect was later apprehended in the Al-Qurain Market area.
During the raid on his residence, authorities recovered the stolen money and a small bag containing the narcotic substance ‘crystal meth.’ According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to public prosecution for further investigation and legal action.
